"Global" is a reference to the big, wide world of TUI BLUE. And “local” represents the hotels and their staff. Our task was to ensure that this combination is also reflected in the TUI BLUE design. The result is a mix of minimalist and contemporary shapes, vivid colours and spacious rooms, incorporating traditional local craftsmanship. Ornaments inspired by regional flora and fauna, architecture and landscapes have been used in the designs. As a source of inspiration they pay homage to each holiday destination, giving the global overall design a locally distinctive atmosphere.
In the planning of the individual hotel areas, it was important to me and my colleagues that we showcased the details clearly and simply in order to create clarity in the design. Successful examples of this are the many places throughout the entire hotel where guests can retreat and unwind, like the different seating areas in the lobby and the daybeds on the beach.
Now and again, of course, function plays just an important a role as appearance. An important focus here was on improving the arrival and departure experience of the holidaymakers. In addition to a Welcome Lounge, we also created a Farewell Lounge near the reception, with showers, changing rooms and a small lounge. This is the perfect place for guests to freshen up in after a long journey or to get ready for their flight home after a lovely day at the beach – in a setting that is both private and relaxed.
